Two Dumbells, 10 Minutes and a Creative Mind…

Posted by: Hewi    Tags:  Blog, Video    Posted date:  September 25, 2011  |  2 Comments

Every fat, unhealthy person has an excuse as to why they don’t exercise. “I work long hours”, “I travel too much”, “I can’t afford a gym membership or home gym” or “You try having kids and see how much time you have”. We have all heard them before.

Ofcourse we all know that it’s not a lack of time that inhibits people from keeping fit and healthy, it’s a lack of desire, discipline, or motivation. Well to begin with, if you do have a young family, there’s your motivation and desire right there!

We can also throw the “lack of equipment and time” argument out the window too. All Crossfitters know that the toughest workouts can also be the shortest – Fran anybody???

I came across this great video by Spealler and Kalipha. The scene is set in a hotel fitness center (there goes the “I travel too much” argument). It demonstrates the effectiveness of two dumbbells, 10 minutes and a creative mind. Very few of us would do this workout in 10-11 mins like Jason, but the workout could be such that you could ‘get as far as possible in 10 mins’, for instance…

Don’t save Crossfit just for the box. As Blaire Morrison would say, become “anywhere fit”!

Great workout! As someone who travels over 1/2 the year I have been doing this type of WOD for the times when I am away from the box.
Warm up – 3 rounds of 400m, 10 burpees and 10 air squat
Then 40,30,20,10 of sit ups, push ups, biceps, squats (always do the sit ups but mix other stuff up including farmers carry. In india i have housekeeping drop me 2×20 litre chemical drums which i then farmers carry at a run up and down the hotel ramp…gives them a great laugh but it is inventive)
Then cool down with 1k run followed by 1 min of plank
Stretch and walk it out.
Welcome any tips for how to stay in the zone for 100 thrusters. I hate them and find it all too easy to not stay mentally tough to see them through.
